Julia Powers
photography
For those of you who do not know me, I'm Julia and I am the face behind the camera! In addition to my photography, I am a wife, mother and I per diem as a nurse. I have always had a love for photos and the story they tell. I love to do crafts - I'm constantly starting a DIY project, with the help of my husband of course.
When my son was born in 2016, I immediately became a #MomTog. When I started to use my first “real” camera I was hooked, I couldn’t get enough. I quickly learned the ins and outs of my little canon, so I finally decided to start doing more with my camera and started asking friends and family to be my models so I could really keep learning. I am 100% self-taught, with the help of some amazing local photographers of course. I have enrolled in online seminars included Kelly Brown Baby Safety and Posing for Newborn Photographers, Meg Bitton Live Simple Studio Newborn and Meg Bitton Live No excuses Lifestyle. I am apart of an online community of photographers, The Unraveled Academy. Since joining this community I think my work has flourished!
In January of 2018, I officially started offering photography sessions, focusing mainly on families. Fast forward, in 2021 I opened my in-house studio. Then in 2022 I officially opened my own studio in Barre, MA. In October 2024 I closed my studio, but I am still offering a variety of sessions to meet all of my clients needs. I am always open to different types of sessions to offer a variety of styles for new and returning clients.
In an ever so changing photography world, I feel I have truly found myself and my style over time. I love the challenge photography brings me and the joy my work brings to other. The joy it brings to others is what keeps me going and wanting more! Photography started as a creative outlet for me and has given me so much in return. I have met so many amazing families and it makes my heart so happy to be able to do so.
